After initial certification, the certification body conducts surveillance audits during the cycle, with the first surveillance audit normally taking place within 12 months of the certification decision. Before the cycle ends, a recertification audit is conducted to continue certification.

The certification body controls the audit cycle and certificate validity. It may suspend or withdraw a certificate if certification requirements are not maintained.
