Quantum Aluminum and Glass Industries LLC manufactures glass, aluminium and other building components in Al Ghail Industrial Zone, Ras Al Khaimah. With several production lines serving the construction and building-envelope market, the company needed consistent quality controls across different materials, processes and customer requirements.

Qdot supported Quantum in designing and implementing a single ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) covering toughened and laminated glass, architectural glass processing, non-ferrous metal sections and wires, aluminium facade fabrication, and pre-fabricated metal buildings. Following implementation and independent certification audits, an ISO 9001:2015 certificate was initially issued on 23 October 2025 by the certification body then operating as TÜV Apex Standardization Certifications, now known as NORMEIRA Standardization Certifications.

The central achievement was not simply documenting separate production lines. It was designing one company-wide quality framework with common procedures for contract review, purchasing, production control, inspection, traceability and corrective action, while retaining the specialist checks required by each product line.

About Quantum Aluminum & Glass Industries

Quantum Aluminum and Glass Industries LLC operates in Al Ghail Industrial Zone, Ras Al Khaimah, supplying products used in construction and building-envelope projects. Its activities span toughened and laminated flat glass, architectural glass processing, non-ferrous metal sections and wires, aluminium fabrication for building facades, and pre-fabricated metal buildings.

Bringing those activities together creates a demanding quality-management environment. Glass processing relies on controlled manufacturing and testing; metal and aluminium fabrication must follow drawings, specifications, tolerances and required finishes. Customers and project consultants may also need inspection evidence, material records and product traceability from order through delivery.

Although the processes differ, Quantum serves its customers as one business. That made a common quality-management approach useful, with consistent responsibility, document control, supplier evaluation and corrective action across product lines.

The Objective: One Quality System for Every Product Line

Quantum's goal was to formalise quality practices across its operations and prepare the complete documented manufacturing scope for independent ISO 9001 certification. Qdot and Quantum focused on the following objectives:

  • One QMS across the operation: A shared quality policy, objectives and management framework rather than separate systems for glass and metal-product activities.
  • Controlled production processes: Appropriate checks for incoming materials, production stages, inspection, testing and final product acceptance.
  • Project-ready records: Contract review, specification and drawing control, inspection evidence and traceability records suitable for customer and consultant review.
  • Consistent corrective action: A common approach to non-conforming outputs, customer complaints, root causes and improvement across all departments.
  • A scope that reflects the business: Certification wording covering the stated glass, non-ferrous metal, aluminium facade and pre-fabricated building activities.

Why Quantum Chose Qdot

  • Manufacturing-sector experience. Qdot's consultants work with building-materials and industrial manufacturers, where procedures must function in production and inspection rather than exist only as documents.
  • Scope-first planning. Defining each manufacturing activity early helped avoid a certificate scope that addressed only a portion of Quantum's operations.
  • Practical documentation. The QMS was structured around Quantum's processes and staff responsibilities, with common procedures where practical and process-specific controls where necessary.
  • End-to-end consultancy support. Qdot supported the client from the initial gap review through implementation, internal audit, management review and preparation for the independent certification audits.

The Qdot Approach: Design, Implement and Prepare for Certification

Rather than introducing a separate quality system for every product family, Qdot used a five-stage implementation programme designed around shared QMS requirements and the differences between Quantum's manufacturing lines.

Stage 1 — Gap Analysis and Certification Scope Definition

The project began with an on-site review of Quantum's existing practices against ISO 9001:2015. Qdot mapped the operations and processes in each production area and identified the controls and documentation needed to bring them into a single QMS.

Scope definition was especially important. It had to account for toughened and laminated glass, architectural glass processing, non-ferrous metal sections and wires, aluminium facade fabrication, and pre-fabricated metal buildings, rather than describing the business only as a glass or aluminium fabricator.

Stage 2 — Designing the Quality Management System

Qdot developed an integrated set of quality documentation and process controls suited to Quantum's operation. The main elements included:

  • A quality policy, measurable quality objectives and documented process responsibilities.
  • Procedures for order and contract review, drawings and specification control, purchasing, supplier evaluation, production planning and dispatch.
  • Incoming, in-process and final inspection and testing controls suited to the different manufacturing activities.
  • Records for identification and traceability, control of non-conforming outputs, customer complaints, corrective action and calibration of measuring equipment.
  • A risk-and-opportunity approach covering the quality risks of glass processing, metal fabrication and project delivery.

Stage 3 — Implementation and Staff Awareness

Qdot worked with Quantum's management, supervisors and production staff to move the QMS from documentation into routine use. Awareness training explained how employees' activities contributed to product conformity, how to maintain records and how to report or control quality problems.

Production and inspection records were then generated through everyday activities. This provided practical evidence that the QMS was operating across the different manufacturing lines before the external assessment.

Stage 4 — Internal Audit and Management Review

A company-wide internal audit reviewed the implemented controls across Quantum's processes and product lines. Identified issues were addressed through corrective action, and a management review considered quality performance, objectives, customer feedback, resources and opportunities for improvement.

These activities helped Quantum assess its readiness before inviting the independent certification body to complete the certification audits.

Stage 5 — Independent Certification Audit

Quantum's external certification assessment was performed by the certification body then known as TÜV Apex Standardization Certifications, which subsequently adopted the NORMEIRA name. Qdot supported preparation for the Stage 1 and Stage 2 audits; the certification body carried out the audits and made the certification decision independently.

The source document records that the ISO 9001:2015 certificate was initially issued on 23 October 2025 for the documented manufacturing scope. This case study does not state that Qdot issued the certificate or that the original certificate remains active without further verification.

The Outcome: A Common QMS Across Multiple Manufacturing Activities

1. An ISO 9001:2015 certificate issued for the documented manufacturing scope. The original 2025 certification covered toughened or laminated glass, architectural glass processing, non-ferrous metal sections and wires, aluminium facade fabrication, and pre-fabricated metal buildings under one QMS.

2. Shared quality-management practices. Contract review, purchasing, process control, inspection, record management and corrective action were organised within a common structure rather than unrelated departmental arrangements.

3. Controls tailored to each production line. A common QMS framework did not replace process-specific checks. Glass processing, metal products and facade fabrication continued to require the inspection and testing appropriate to their respective manufacturing activities.

4. Stronger traceability and project documentation. More structured records for materials, production, inspection and product acceptance provide a basis for responding to customer requirements, submittals and project handovers.

5. A foundation for further improvements. A quality-management backbone can support future integration of environmental and occupational health and safety requirements if the company decides to pursue ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Those additional standards are not claimed as achieved in this engagement.

For an example of quality, environmental and safety integration in the same emirate, see Advance Concrete Products' project.

A Standout Result: One Certificate Scope for Five Product Areas

Manufacturers with several product families sometimes manage quality requirements in separate departmental systems or focus certification on only their principal activity. Quantum's case shows the importance of defining a scope that reflects the products and processes included in the intended assessment.

The QMS addressed toughened and laminated glass, architectural glass processing, non-ferrous metal wires and sections, aluminium facade fabrication, and pre-fabricated metal buildings. Common procedures set expectations across the organisation, while production-specific controls addressed the inspection and testing needs of each line.

That distinction matters for building-materials suppliers: the certificate scope, operational procedures and records should tell a consistent story about what the business actually manufactures.

Key Takeaways for Glass, Aluminium and Building-Materials Manufacturers

  • Define the certification scope carefully. List the actual manufacturing activities and confirm that the scope wording matches the products and processes being assessed.
  • Use one management backbone. Share procedures for contract review, supplier evaluation, document control and corrective action, while tailoring inspection methods to each process.
  • Build records for real customer needs. Drawing and specification control, testing evidence, traceability and final inspection records matter during project execution as well as certification audits.
  • Make the QMS usable on the factory floor. Awareness and real production records are essential; a manual alone is not evidence of an effective working system.
  • Verify accredited certification and ongoing status. Check the certification body's relevant accreditation and the individual certificate's current status, including any surveillance requirements.
